Different types of coffee around the world

I have to start my day with a cup of ice coffee, be it brewed at home or one from my local coffee shop; I live on coffee. As a recent college graduate, I was broke most of the time, and coffee was my way to go to get a spike of energy; and I lived on coffee, energy drinks and ramen noodles in college, so that can tell you where my priorities are. I’ve been living in New York for the past 10 years, and I can tell you that we have the best coffee shops in the world, but there are some coffees around the globe that all of us should try at least once in our life. So, without further ado, let’s get into the list of coffee around the world!

1. Flat white (Australia)

coffee

This hot caffeinated drink has a pretty contested origin, and people disagree whether it originated from Australia or New Zealand, but it was first documented in Sydney in 1985, and since then, this boost of energy gained popularity worldwide, and now even Starbucks offers its version of a flat white. It is often called a wet cappuccino because it has less milk than its counterpart. They consist of a double shot of espresso and are topped with steamed milk and foam. A flat white is usually deemed a small latte, but the two are completely different as the flat white has less milk than the latter, making the coffee flavor more pronounced in the flat white.

2. Ca Phe Trung (Vietnam)

coffee

This one is one of the most peculiar yet delicious coffees on our list. Ca Phe Trung is also known as Vietnamese egg coffee and is a bit like the Swedish Kaffeost, and it tastes a 1000 times that it sounds. I can guarantee you this. A traditional Ca Pe Truong is made using egg yolks, sugar, robusta coffee and condensed milk, and this is a yum mixture; you have to taste it to know how good it is. It is one of my must-haves everything I visit Vietnam; it tastes like a cloud and makes you feel like you are in heaven. It is often described as tasting as a Cadbury Creme Egg with a hint of mocha, and this is the best way to describe it.

3. Affogato (Italy)

coffee

This is my favorite coffee to have as a dessert. It is a classic Italian preparation that pairs espresso with gelato, two of the country’s most remarkable inventions in my books. Affogato means downpour and refers to the fact that espresso is poured into a scoop of gelato and drowns it. There is also constant discourse when it comes to the affogato, there is no consensus whether it is a drink or dessert, and I personally believe it is a delicious dessert that one enjoys at the end of their meal. However, even though no one knows whether it is a drink or dessert, it has reached global success and can be found around the globe with slight variables like the inclusion of liquor in them.

4. Yuanyang (Hong Kong)

coffee

Yuanyang is a popular caffeinated drink in Hong Kong and is a mixture of coffee and Hong Kong-style tea and is the perfect drink for people who love both tea and coffee, you get to taste both, and it doesn’t taste like a battleground in your mouth, you get a combination of two flavors that go well together. The name refers to the mandarin duck, which often appears in pairs (like the coffee, which blends two flavors), and the male and female ducks are very different in appearance. Coffee and tea are vastly different, but they pair so well together and taste lovely. This drink is a literal jolt of energy that most of us wish we had on our bad days.
